L’Isola è l'ultima fatica di Tommaso Santi. Un testo ‘costruito’ per il Metastasio e al quale l'autore ha lavorato per più di un anno e che chiuderà il Festival Contemporanea.
L'idea nacque da una discussione sulla Tempesta di Shakespeare, che avrebbe dovuto essere, come infatti lo è, uno dei temi portanti della stagione che sta per cominciare.
La Tempesta, l'ultimo, forse il più grande, ma comunque sicuramente il più misterioso testo del genio inglese.
Il suo testamento. Il testamento della cultura rinascimentale che sta per essere inghiottita dal nuovo. Un'isola che si muove in acque notturne, misteriose alla ricerca di nuova luce.
La Tempesta, dove l'ultimo monologo sembra un invito alla morte.
Ecco da questo concetto parte l'avventura dei nostri personaggi, naufraghi alla ricerca di un qualcosa che non riescono a decifrare, a concretizzare.
Un'avventura magnifica che ci conferma con forza e con violenta ironia che la conoscenza della verità è per gli esseri umani letale.
Un'isola che cerca i naufraghi e li trova, impreparati, alla ricerca di se stessi, ancora intenti ad allenarsi a vivere.
E loro sono così indaffarati nel loro voler sentire la vita dentro il loro esistere che non si rendono conto che per vivere è ormai troppo tardi.
L'Isola, un'avventura magnifica nelle acque della vita passata.

Isola is Tommaso Santi’s last work.
He had worked for more than a year on this text, which has been ‘built’ for Metastasio and that will close Contemporanea Festival.
The idea came out a discussion about The Tempest by Shakespeare, that will be one of the most important themes of the new coming season.
The Tempest is the last, maybe the greatest, surely the most mysterious text written by the English genius. This is his testament.
This is the testament made by Renaissance culture, which is going to be swallowed by ‘the new’.
An island is moving in dark, mysterious waters looking for new light.
The Tempest’s last monologue seems to be an invitation to death.
Our characters’ adventure starts from this concept: they are shipwrecked people looking for something they can’t decode, concretize.
This extraordinary adventure confirms with strength and violent irony, that the knowledge of the truth is lethal for the human beings.
The island searches for the shipwrecked people and it will find them, but they are unprepared, they are looking for themselves, they are still trying to live.
They’re so busy in their research that they don’t realize that it’s too late for living.
Isola, an extraordinary adventure, in the waters of the past.
