Un nome proprio e un luogo per aprire il varco di una tradizione storica e permetterle di squarciarsi sul filo della consuetudine. Il tema - il titolo - il soggetto - serve a connettere l’azione scenica con la realtà di un altro mondo, con il palcoscenico emotivo e nervoso come Caligola, in preda a continui mancamenti che la numismatica non riesce a documentare ma che il sipario gli restituisce in trionfo.
Un vuoto di potere, e anche un’assenza di conforto, alterano un rapporto con il linguaggio e la composizione che tengono in considerazione gli aneddoti di bassa storiografia e le amarezze del basso intrattenimento, che si lasciano proiettare in un altro dispositivo.
O tu togli di mezzo me, o io te! : amaro e sardonico, come il suo umorismo e le battute crudeli, come certi ghigni della nostra epoca.
