I AM 1984 utilizza il dispositivo di “rappresentazione” proprio ad una conferenza. Ruotando intorno all’anno 1984, la pièce stabilisce delle connessioni tra elementi autobiografici e altri facenti parte della storia degli Stati-Uniti d’America (le Olimpiadi di Los Angeles, Walt Disney, Apple e Steve Jobs, George Lucas e Star Wars). Il risultato finale é un disegno rizomatico, una specie di mappa mentale, “una cospirazione del cervello” che stabilisce dei legami tra un numero esuberante di avvenimenti e effetti eterogenei. É una maniera per quelli che non fanno parte dei centri di potere di immaginarsi eroicamente in possesso di un sapere (l’arma dei deboli) senza lo scopo non più di parodiare l’impotenza dell’uomo ordinario.

I AM 1984 uses a theatrical set up of a lecture (exploring the ready-made relationship between the lecturer and the audience) to establish a complex exchange of information.
Revolving around the year 1984, it establishes connections between the autobiographical elements with the facts, people and events from the U.S.A. history (such as the Los Angeles Olympic Games, Steve Jobs, Star Wars, Bob Dylan, Microsoft, Timothy Leary, David Bowie, etc.).
The final drawing is a kind of mental map, a "conspiracy of the brain", establishing connections between an overwhelming number of disparate events and facts.
It is the way for those who are not taking part of the centers of power and knowledge to imagine themselves heroically in possession of that knowledge, but without the intention to parody the impotence of the "ordinary man".
